Arianna Nasal Aspirator
I was given this product when my oldest child was a newborn. I had tried conventional aspirators – the rubber balloon style with a nozzle.
I found two problems with them. Firstly, they didnt work. She was just as bunged up as she was to begin with. Secondly was the hygene element. They were not only so difficult to wash and get any snot that happened to be sucked in back out, and I wondered what would happen with any residue gunk which was left in there. I soon found my answer, when I saw a picture posted of one that had been cut open – lets just say that it was far from hygenic!
How does it work?
When I first saw the video of how to use this aspirator I must admit I was a little dubious. You attach the end (C) to your vaccum nozzle and the suction at point A will suck the boogers right out of the child. But it seemed to work, so I thought I would give it a try.
Oh my, what a result!
My baby, who was having so many difficulties sleeping, was snot free for the first time in 24 hours and able to actually sleep without us having to resort to steam, vicks, elevating the bed, etc. What a relief!
I did feel the need to try it out on myself before I used it on my child, for fear of sucking the brains right out of her! But the design ensures that the suction is regulated just enough for the secretions to be sucked out but nothing else – it is perfectly comfortable.
The only downside is the noise of the vaccum which could potentially scare the baby, but this is a small thing compared to the advantages that come from it. Its easy to clean, and as it is clear you can make see that it is actually clean when you come to putting it away.
On the whole, a brilliant product!
